15 NOV 2018: VGN (learnvulcan) is live!
My name is Max Matthews....in this case, aka Svetam C'tahl, or K'tahl, which long-story-short, kinda means 'Of Study' in vuhlkansu.

Vuhlkansu is a conlang known as Vulcan, created my Mark Gardner and his linguist friends and made available at vli.org until approx March 2018, when the site went offline. This is my recreation and furtherance of the project, where all attempts to develop the language will be attempts to codify and somewhat rationalize the use of Lower Golic -- the vuhlkanate found in novelizations -- as misinterpreted or misunderstood versions of Ancient Golic, of which VLI stated as evidence of word roots or critical terms that survived without modern speakers knowing how those words originated. (The terms mentioned are explained in the VLI lessons.)

Not to make this page too long.

Vuhlkansu, or vulcan, is a breathable language, but the source materials aren't modernized for tablets/phones, or the layouts are overcomplicated by not having single pages, or unavailable due to hosting complication, or sometimes cumbersome. This blog is an attempt to oversimplify the availability, streamline the multimedia content, and organize the learning into tasteful content. Pages from Gardner's site are marked with VLI (vulcan language institute), pages here are marked VGT (vuhlkansu gen-lis trahokna), both meaning the same thing.

Materials here are for you to learn the language, there will be some cultural terms translated, but define topic outside the scope of the/se courses. Most of the VGT lessons are smaller and intended to be easier to remember, in ways similar to any foreign language textbook, with topics grouped, and grammar sections to improve on minimized parts. The goal is to explain roots, word-groups, hy'phenations, order word, and prefix-suffix more in-depth.

Almost finished.

I try to follow r/Vulcan but comments are unrestricted below each blog post if you want to comment or question. I've been posting to speakvulcantome.tumblr.com with phrases/photos translated to English/Spanish. I'm not a trained linguist, I'm a trained nerd, and like most I have nerdy hobbies. vuhlkansu.blogspot.com is where I post only in vuhlkansu/vulcan, much less often, since reality itself keeps demanding I be a part of it.

Drive safely. Be nice. Work hard. Sleep intentionally. Wake-up early. Etc. Updates to this page will append to the top.

  1. Glad to find others learning Vulcan. I just started a site documenting my learning integrating Zun font in the learning process. I plan on studying your site more as I advance. I'm at https://vulcanquest.wordpress.com
